Flooding In Spelthorne – we NEED to take ACTION

Water levels in Spelthorne are at the highest level seen in years right now, and this is a sign of things to come. These once exceptional weather events are no longer rare but are becoming more frequent and more severe.
We are all seeing whole roads where pedestrians, and other road users alike, have had to wade through rainwater. Right now, large areas of Spelthorne are subject to official flood warnings.
The Independents are taking all these ongoing increased risks into consideration when making decisions for OUR borough.
With the inspection of the Spelthorne Local Plan expected to resume in the Spring, Leader of Spelthorne Council, Jo Sexton said: “Officers and the Administration Group of Councillors are working collectively on this issue. We are particularly looking to make the right changes to the Local Plan in areas that have been highlighted as being at significant risk. When the Spelthorne Local Plan is presented again to the Inspector, we want to be sure that developments do not hinder the future survival of OUR borough.”
