Feltham Road
I am delighted that after extensive campaigning to Surrey County Council, I can announce that a traffic calming scheme is finally going to be installed along Feltham Road, Ashford. This has been many years in the planning and this initiative will finally reduce traffic speeds, enhance road safety and reduce casualties. The damage to private properties will also allow residents to feel safe in their homes again. This road traffic calming scheme will create a more pleasant environment for all residents as well as people visiting Ashford and will hopefully encourage more walking and cycling in the area.
There will be speed humps which have been strategically placed to reduce speeding and ensure safer driving behaviours. There will be a full width road table to the northeast of Feltham Road, where the highest speeds have been recorded. The existing zebra crossing will also be on a full width road table so pedestrians, including children attending the Echelford Primary, can cross in a safer manner.
Surrey County Council are close to finishing the next stage of this scheme and we will be ready to consult on these proposals in the coming months. I anticipate the scheme will be implemented by the end of this Financial Year / March 2025.
I’m sure you will all be as delighted as I am with this news. It is something I have been passionate about since I was first elected three years ago and determined to deliver. It is great that we can finally see this come to fruition to make Ashford as nicer and safer place for everyone to live in
