Spelthorne Borough Council extended its dog control Public Space Protection Order (PSPO) for a further three years. The Anti-Social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014, Part 4, Section 59.
Originally introduced in 2021A consultation on the PSPO was held in Autumn 2023 and respondents were overwhelmingly in favour of extending the PSPO. Spelthorne Borough Council has extended its dog control Public Space Protection Order (PSPO) for a further three years.

This means it is an offence if a person faces a fine if they:
- allow a dog onto prohibited areas (e.g. children’s play areas)
- fail to clean up after their dog
- professional dog walkers should not exercise more than four dogs at any given time
- fail to keep their dog on a lead in certain areas (e.g. car parks)
- fail to comply with an authorised officer’s instructions to put/keep their dog on a lead
- fail to have equipment for removing dog faeces when requested by an officer
