Short History
The former Debenhams building was purpose-built to replace a collection of smaller buildings in 1956 under the Kennards brand (a Debenhams subsidiary) and was re-branded as Debenhams in 1973.
A previous Developer’s bid to become 226 flats was rejected at appeal by a government inspector. The plans were previously refused by councillors before the applicant lodged an appeal:
