As part of Surrey County Council’s commitment to improving roads and pavements, Village Way and
Knapp Road, Ashford has been selected for their Fine Milling Programme and footway reconstruction.
When?
NOTE: The work will be carried out in stages.
Fine Milling works – Friday 4 April for 11 days, Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm.
Footway reconstruction work will follow (look out update on these works nearer the time).
The extent of the works are Brownrigg Road to Knapp Road.
Following footway works there will be a need to return to complete the Fine Milling.
What is Fine Milling?
Fine Milling is a cost-effective way of refurbishing a road surface. The process involves levelling out the
area and repairing joints and cracks. Once weathered, the concrete repairs will fade to a uniform colour.

weathered
You can see the original concrete road in the
areas where the tarmac has peeled away. The
road is patchy, and all the joints and edges are in
poor condition.
The original concrete road surface is retextured,
and all the joints and cracks are filled in. The
surface will weather, and it will all fade to a much
more uniform colour over time.

Need Help?
Surrey Highways will make sure you can get to and from your house or business when it is safe to do so. Please talk to a member of staff on site if you need help – they are keen to deliver the work with minimal
disruption to you.
It is essential to keep the road free from parked vehicles to enable the work to proceed as planned.
Due to the fast-moving nature of this type of work, dates can vary from the ones advertised. The work is
also weather dependant and can be delayed by bad weather or other factors. Please look at the information boards on site for date changes.
To carry out these works the road first needs to be prepared by clearing vegetation, however the road will not need to be closed for this.
